YKK AP Expands Direct Freight Shipping Program to Southeast Region
Dedicated service provides a convenient and efficient shipping experience that limits potential for damage
AUSTELL, GA. (March 9, 2017) – YKK AP America customers in the Southeast U.S. now have access to its direct freight shipping program. The program, successfully established in the Northeast, Midwest, Southwest, Gulf Coast, and Central U.S. regions, greatly decreases the use of less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation and improves the overall customer experience by providing a more direct, efficient way to receive shipments, without the potential for damage.
The direct freight shipping program uses a dedicated logistics system with YKK AP-branded trucks to handle transportation and deliveries. Each shipment is moved by hand, limiting the possibility of damage. Because shipments are scheduled for delivery on a recurring date, the customer can improve productivity by better scheduling its labor needs. Additionally, the system provides for added flexibility, with the ability to order and receive full truckloads outside of the regularly scheduled route service.
“As one of our strongest markets in the U.S., the Southeast was the next natural fit for the expansion of the direct freight shipping program,” said Dennis Howard, manager of transportation and logistics at YKK AP America. “The program has allowed us to build upon our goal to provide the best quality and service to our customers. We have received a highly positive response to it in other regions and are proud to continue our expansion into this rapidly growing market.”
