YKK AP Takes Home Three Wins in the 2020 Architectural Products Product Innovation Awards
Honored for its innovative industry leadership as well as the successful application of its YHC 300 SSG Cassette Curtain Wall and YUW 750 TU Curtain Wall products
AUSTELL, GA. (Nov. 20, 2020) – YKK AP America Inc. today announced it took home three Architectural Products 2020 Product Innovation Awards (PIAs). The company was honored with the Industry Leadership Award for its innovative approach to evolving the industry through its commitment to strategic growth partnerships, the environment and technology. The YHC 300 SSG Cassette Curtain Wall was recognized for its successful application in The Commons at Tulane University in New Orleans and the YUW 750 TU Curtain Wall was honored for its application in The Heights public school building in Arlington, Va.
With judging and evaluation of products and systems from a distinguished panel of 22 designers and product specialists skilled in product evaluation, the PIA program awards manufacturers based on attributes, qualities, functionality and/or performance beyond industry standards.

YKK AP’s forward-thinking approach has been demonstrated over the past year. In 2019, due to the industry’s increasingly tight schedules and rapid building close-ins, along with a shortage of skilled labor, YKK AP saw an unprecedented demand for fabricated, pre-assembled products. It acquired high-performance facades solutions provider, Erie Architectural Products Group, to meet this demand for unitized products. Looking to the future of its business, its parent company launched a joint effort with Carnegie Mellon University in 2020 to research technology to install windows, curtain walls, doors and products using robots and software to improve construction productivity and quality. YKK is investigating virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality technologies; it is also researching new methods of installation.
