Dec. 3, 2024 – YKK AP America announced today that it was recognized among the best of the 2024 BUILDINGS Magazine Product Innovation Awards. Votes placed by the building’s community recognized YKK AP as a winner for Baptist Health Care at Brent Lane.

The 2024 BUILDINGS Magazine Product Innovation Awards celebrates outstanding innovation in building materials and solutions for architects, building owners, facility managers, and product specification influencers. Every year we showcase and reward companies, designers, and innovators who have contributed to the advancement of architecture through their creative and impactful designs.

2024 BUILDINGS Magazine Product Innovation Award winners are chosen by a qualified judging panel chosen by the editorial staff at BUILDINGS.

This program was developed to recognize and celebrate innovative building materials and solutions to help readers—architects, building owners and product specification influencers—create beautiful, functional and high-performance commercial projects. Judged by an esteemed and experienced panel of industry insiders from the building and architectural community, the PIAs move to the forefront those manufacturers offering innovative concepts, products and systems to the design of the built environment. Of the thousands of new and improved product ideas brought to market each year, the PIA winners represent the very finest.

Baptist Health Care at Brent Lane is a full-scale health campus on a 57-acre site, with state-of-the-art facilities that include a new 10-story hospital, a six-story 178,000-square-foot Bear Family Foundation Health Center, a 48,000-square-foot Baptist Behavioral Health Unit, and a 23,000-square-foot central energy plant.

Based on the region’s history with hurricanes and tropical storms, a risk assessment and in-depth analysis led to a design that reflects resilience capabilities extending beyond code requirements and incorporates unique sustainability features – such as building orientation, glass selections, and stormwater-recovery for irrigation and cooling tower water. As such, the facilities are rated to withstand a Category 5 hurricane and severe flooding, while still remaining functional even through power and water disruptions.

Multiple YKK AP products were used throughout the space to achieve the project’s design and performance goals, including YHC 300OG Impact Resistant and Blast Mitigating Outside Glazed Curtain Wall System, YHW 60TU Pre-Glazed, Thermally Broken, Impact Window Wall System, and the Model 35H Impact Resistant and Blast Mitigating Medium Stile Entrance system with YS1N clear anodized products.
